There's nothing more romantic than cooking the most scrumptious recipe for your spouse after a long week at work. We all know cooking is the way to a woman's heart, but for one man, he was left baffled by his wife's reaction.

The bloke revealed how he decided to fry up a couple of steaks for him and his woman one evening. Posting on Reddit, in the 'Midly Infuriating' forum which boasts 11million members, the man shared a couple of snaps which showed how much the cuts of meat were cooked, and according to his wife, it simply wasn't enough for her.

His caption read: "Wife says the steak I made for her isn't cooked enough." Snaps show the meat nearly grey in the middle with a little bit of pink colour on the sides.

In fact, it's so well-cooked it even looks like it might be chewy, as he explained below the pictures: "I cooked this and broiled it, and made sure to temp it and she says the red means it's still raw."

Since it was shared, the post garnered 64,000 upvotes and 15,000 comments with many people agreeing there was nothing wrong with the meat.

One said: "It's beyond fully cooked." While another added: "Anymore and it would be beef jerky."

Someone else joked: "This isn't well done. It's congratulations." A fourth chimed in: "True love is agreeing to never share a grill again."

The original poster then shared an update as he admitted his wife ended up cooking her meat for a third time.

It's not easy cooking the perfect steak with the type of oil, cut and frying time enough to impact its flavours.

But to cook it just right, bring it to room temperature and season it generously with salt and pepper. Make sure to sear it in a very hot, lightly oiled pan for a few minutes per side to create a crust.

Fancy a richer flavour? You can add butter, garlic and herbs to the pan during the last minute to baste the steak. Then finally, allow the steak to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing to ensure it remains juicy.

You can really jazz things up by making a sauce to go with it, like chimichurri, Béarnaise or even peppercorn.
